Submissions Due by May 1, 2022 Video Compilation of Student Talents will be shared in the month of May.
Westlake students are invited to submit a video showcasing a talent that will be combined with the rest of the school in a private video. Let your personality and expression shine and anticipate seeing your kids' peers and their talents as well. This was done last spring at Gault and was a huge success in boosting morale, sharing more facets about our community, and finding joy in the peers we all miss.
Open to All!
We welcome all talents! Submit a 2 minute video of student(s):
performing a skit or monologue, reading a poem or telling a story, telling jokes or performing stand-up comedy
a puppet show, a dog trick routine, performing magic tricks
jumping rope, performing gymnastics, doing bike tricks, soccer tricks, etc.
The possibilities are endless!
Have Fun!
Let's bring some school spirit back into our community! Students may perform with family or Westlake friends. All participants must complete the talent show entry form (above), giving consent to have their work shared with the school community. If performing in a group, only one member of the group needs to upload the performance or artwork. All students must fill out the submission form to satisfy parental consent.
Details
Acts, lyrics and costumes must be elementary school appropriate and no longer than two minutes in length.
Vocal acts should be accompanied with music or a cappella.
Do not add text overlay to your video. Our volunteer editors will add the student’s first name and grade level on the video.
Compiled video submissions may be divided into two final videos (TK-2nd and 3rd-5th) depending upon the number of submissions.
The Talent Show will be distributed as an “Unlisted YouTube Video” in Mr. Curley’s weekly email to the Westlake Community families. “Unlisted” means that only people with the link to the video can view it (such as Westlake faculty and families or friends to whom you send the link). An unlisted video will not appear in any of YouTube’s public spaces (such as search results or the Browse page).
Tips for your Video
When taking the video, please record in horizontal orientation (as opposed to vertical).
Use natural light if possible and a clean background.
Prop the recording device (Smartphone or video camera) on something stationary like a tripod or a table to avoid shaky footage
Do not add your name in text, but if text is part of your video that is fine!
