5th Grade Culminating Art Project
Every year the graduating class collaborates with an artist on a visual art piece at Westlake.
Dear Westlake Families,
It's been nearly a two year undertaking, but our Fifth Grade Culminating Art Project, entitled Blooming into the Future, for the classes of 2020 and 2021 is finally complete. If you have a chance, please take a moment to stop by and see our latest public art piece, located in the Quad at Westlake.
I'd like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who helped bring this beautiful project into fruition. First and foremost, I'd like to recognize our Principal, Mr. Curley and our School District for allowing us to move forward with the flowerbed. Secondly, I'd like to thank our PTA and The Arts Committee for their support and guidance throughout the process.
Special thanks go out to our Art Teacher, Julie Nolte who worked with both the students and staff to help create the painted ceramic tiles which decorate Blooming into the Future. Thank you to the 5th grade students who contributed to the project and have since graduated. To my husband, Moto Ohtake, who generously donated his kinetic sculpture as the centerpiece and an especially heartfelt thank you to Billy and Chrisa Burr, who graciously built the six-sided flowerbed, that now graces our campus.
Deep appreciation also goes out to The Kraushaar Family, who donated dirt; to the Scarborough Family for contributing the plants and to Karina Scarborough, Divya Sharma and Caroline Power for helping fill the flowerbed.
Thank you to each and everyone of you! Thank you to all of our families for your ongoing support of the arts throughout the years at Westlake. The Quad has become a wonderful place to sit, relax and enjoy a peaceful moment. Each and every student at Westlake is lucky to Grow Smart through the Arts!!
Very Sincerely, Dorothy Franks, Site Arts Coordinator
